They know how to pick up women and how to talk to women and make it look easy. Why won't they? They have scriptwriters to craft them really amusing lines and they have leading ladies who respond according to the script.

But in reality, many men are not confident enough and do not know the first thing about how to meet women and how to attract women. The scene is very familiar. You are at a bar and notice a really attractive woman. Twenty minutes have passed and you are still thinking of a way to approach her, talk to her and impress her. Twenty minutes have passed and when you look over her way again, there she is with a man, a sleek guy who looks confident and seems to be an expert on how to pick up girls. This is the alpha male and he is what you want to become.

The real way to approach a girl with success. These are nothing more than the exact stratgies that I use to approach, meet and attract women.

#1. SHOWING THAT YOU ARE SINCERE

It's important that a woman think you are sincere, and not a psycho, or a player. However, most guys overdo this part and instead show that they are not only sincere, but guys behave as if they sincerely think they are UNWORTHY of an attractive woman. (As if somehow being attractive makes a woman more worthy inherently). You can also be TOO SMOOTH, where a woman is really into you, and you can OVERWHELM her with being SO CONFIDENT in your body language, behavior, wit and smart-assness, that she feels it would be awesome to be with you, but that you are OUT OF HER LEAGUE.

The key to showing that you are sincere, without overdoing it, is to adjust to your particular woman in front of you, to determine how confident she herself is...by her responses, etc. And you should then accordingly pepper your smart-ass/teasing style conversation with a light small talk, and also by actually LISTENING to what she is saying, without kissing her butt. In other words, by having some normal conversation. The more confident she is, the more teasing she gets, the less confident she is, the more small talk.

#2. BEING A WINNER

Women are attracted to men who are in CONTROL of their lives and their emotions. So being a pessimist, or full of hate, or being a whiner or complainer is not a good idea. Droopy posture doesn't help either. Equally important is being the kind of person who is passionate about life, who ENJOYS life, who has goals in life, and has a plan, and is putting the plan into action. FOR HIMSELF, NOT IN ORDER TO PLEASE ANY WOMAN.

Now, you could LIE about yourself, but why not actually find the things you are interested and passionate about and become involved in them? Most of what holds us back is fear, and when you abandon your fears and go for your goals, it not only makes your life more enjoyable, but others become drawn toward you as well. Since the beginning, women have needed men for survival, who could endure a hostile environment laden with numerous threats and unpredictable situations.

#3. BEING DOMINANT AND MEANING BUSINESS

Women can tell IMMEDIATELY if a guy lacks guts- if he is less than dominant, when he approaches them and opens his mouth. Sometimes, even BEFORE he approaches them, women can tell if he is a submissive little boy.

How ?

Simple: If a guy STARES at a woman instead of just IMMEDIATELY approaching her, a woman knows the guy is TOO NERVOUS to act on his DESIRE. So if you ever see a woman you'd like to approach, don't let her in on it before you have decided to TAKE ACTION.

Now, it's best to just go up immediately, so you don't over analyze the situation and bog yourself down with doubts, but if you have no idea what you are going to say, (i.e. you need to figure out a tease to say), then don't look at her as you are figuring out what you are going to say. Figure it out, and THEN IMMEDIATELY approach her. Meaning "business" is especially important when you ask for an email, or if you suggest an "instant date". Let's say you've chatted it up with a woman for a few minutes, and then you ask for her email...

At this point, I believe a woman makes a subtle TEST...she wants to see if you MEAN BUSINESS, or if you are just playing around, or if you are too scared to really do this kind of thing, etc, etc.

DO NOT SMILE when you ask for the email. Look her straight in the eye, totally calm, without fear, without smiling. You are being a man, offering a woman something she WANTS. Sugar coating it with smiles, etc, only makes it look like you are trying to sell her a raw deal. And if there is a pause, a silence, DO NOT FILL THE "uncomfortable" quiet by saying ANYTHING.

You asked her for her email, and now she has a CHOICE to say yes no or maybe. But if YOU fill the void, it's a sign of you NOT being confident, it's a sign of you trying to find a way out of this "emotional risk" (which is really no risk when you think about it)- and that would not be sexy. During that pause, she will be checking your expression to see if you are a MAN. If she sees you MEAN it, and are offering her NO EASY WAY OUT to lessen the rejection you may face, it shows her you are not afraid of the consequences of your asking, because you MEAN IT and are prepared to accept whatever may happen.

This is NOT desperation, it's MEANING BUSINESS.

By the way, in terms of dominance, it's crucial not to make the mistake of thinking this means to be a JERK. What it really means is to behave in a way that only a guy who is TOO COMFORTABLE with her can. Being a smart-ass can sometimes convey dominance as well- here's an example:

Once, I was at a trendy clothing store and teasing the girl who worked there, telling her the caps on display (which had a "beat up" look) were defective merchandise...she laughs and tells me it's the style, I tease her some more and say "Sure, you get this stuff at a garage sale and then call it "the latest style" " She laughs more.. then I take the hat and put it ON HER HEAD...and I take a long moment...as if I am deciding if it looks good or not on her, instead of just kissing up.... She was EATING THIS UP...loving every second of it. This is what I mean by dominance, as opposed to being a jerk.

#4. BEING SPONTANEOUS

This is a funny one to me, because in reality, what APPEARS to be spontaneous to a woman is actually REHEARSED, and when a guy is truly spontaneous, he comes across to a woman as desperate. I like to consider myself a "good" guy. Years ago, I used to go up to women and I was all nervous and fumbled. But the reality is that I was that way because I had NOT rehearsed, because I was BEING IMPULSIVE AND SPONTANEOUS. And of course got hardly any positive results. I had no plan, I would just see a woman and go up to her, revealing whatever I was feeling at that moment.

Spontaneous. But women interpret that as being a guy who is a sicko, or desperate, etc. To appear SPONTANEOUS in a good sense, you actually have to PRACTICE! Hey, I didn't say women were logical... That means whenever you see women anywhere, go up to them and tease them, and chat them up, and don't think too much about how seriously interested you are or are not. It's about developing the skill to just go up to women and tease, chat, without thinking...

This way, when you see that woman that you just HAVE to go up to, you will be well-REHEARSED so you can look SMOOTH and SPONTANEOUS! And of course, the worst thing you can do to ruin the appearance of being spontaneous is to STARE AT A WOMAN for five minutes before you actually go up to her. JUST GO, IMMEDIATELY. This is very romantic for a woman, when a stranger just pops into their life like that, so the women feel it was all destiny, blah blah blah... just like in a Harlequin romance novel... and when they are in bed with you, they will be thinking "it just happened" it was beyond their control, it was fate...blah blah blah...

#5. NOT BEING DESPERATE AT ALL

First of all, anything that indicates EFFORT to speak to her, on your part, is a signal to a woman that you are desperate.

Notice I said EFFORT, not COURAGE.

Let me give you examples of indicating too much effort:

You see a woman in a mall, walking, and she is FAR away from you. If you want to approach her, do not let her see that you are running half way across the mall to approach her! Instead, you should set it up so that you walk ahead of her without her noticing that you have noticed HER, then casually slow down, turn a bit as if you are looking at something, and VOILA- she just "happens" to walk right toward you. NOW you can do your thing- after all, she was right in front of you, right- it was NO BIG DEAL...lol

Second, anything that puts her on a pedestal also reeks of desperation. This includes over-use of compliments, (I prefer to use none) especially on her beauty. Also, agreeing with everything she says and constant smiling and nodding also reeks of desperation. It says that you are treating her as if she has THE POWER TO MAKE YOU SO DAMN HAPPY- this THROWS ALL THE POWER IN HER COURT, and makes you seem INFERIOR.

After all, if you are not desperate, then why are you getting so excited and happy from her? Let HER smile instead. Giving her too much approval, too much attention, leaning in to her physically or metaphorically, all add up to d-e-s-p-e-r-a-t-i-o-n in her mind. Also, I should mention that acting MEAN does NOT SHOW that you are not desperate, it actually shows that you are indeed bitter and desperate.

Question: Cute Girls - What Do I Do?

I often see women that I think are cute and nice out at the store (either as customers or workers) or in the library or just walking down the street, and I want to know how to approach them for like a date.

I also have considered going out to bars (if I can get in I'm only 19) to get some dates. I have wanted to start dating (yes start as in I haven't been on a real date before unless eating with a girlfriend alone at lunch in high school counts)

At first it was a confidence issue but now I'm okay with my confidence enough to want to try asking for a few dates. I'm just not sure how to do the asking.

Whats the best time to approach a woman?

How do you feel when you approaching women? Most guys get nervous walking up to a woman and trying to make contact. Their palms start to sweat, their bodies start to tremble and they can feel the glands in their throat start to swell. Think about how the lady feels though, seeing some guy whose eyes keep darting around, sweating and breathing heavily walking towards her, it is just not comfortable for either of you.

To approach a woman correctly man need to get a grip! A woman saying "no" or rejecting your advances may be a little sad but put it into perspective much worse things can and do happen in the world. Stop thinking about what to do, and what to say, in fact, the best way too approach a woman is to take the simple approach to make it enjoyable.

Dating is a game and if you think of it in those terms you can relax and have fun with your approach. Just like playing a video game, you should take the time to plan a course of action. When you play a video game, you adopt the habits and traits of the main character, and when dating allowing yourself to break outside of your shell and approach woman in a different way can help you end up with less rejections and encourage you to approach woman you normally would be too intimidated by.

No, you don't have to lie or pretend, but using the techniques that work for a more successful friend allow you to adapt to any social playground with women, and feature a different side of your character that women could find more attractive. Another video game technique that works is using the help of your friends. The "buddy approach" works great when dealing with a group of women, and is a great technique when at a bar or club.

For the buddy approach to work you have to have a male friend along. After spotting the woman you have an interest in, you point her out to your friends. Their job is for your friends to target her friends so you can grab the attention of the girl you like and get a little time alone. Because she is being approached in a group setting with her friends around she will likely be more open.

Approach woman you like at the bar with your friends. All of you should take time to introduce yourselves and spend a few minutes talking to all of the girls their so no one feels offended. This also allow the girl you like to see you are capable of getting along with her friends and are not just after sex. Smiling, light flirting and jokes are also sure to get her attention. Then casually ask her to dance or suggest to buy another round of drinks and ask her to walk you too the bar to help carry the drinks back to group.

Once you have the girl away from her friends for a few minutes, do not waste any time. Build a connection by talking about things that are the same between the two of you, ask her to dance and use body language to increase sexual desire. Take advantage of the club atmosphere, while your friends distract her friends; suggest you find a secluded table in the club to talk. My understandings on women have changed a lot since I read your books and I have read them several times. I am trying to be the Alpha Man which you insisted we (men) all have to be. I am working on it and to tell you the truth I do feel about better about myself.

But, despite reading all your articles, I still get scared to death when I approach women, my thoughts just turn from Alpha to Beta within seconds and I just can't do anything although I already at least have a plan of how I'll get them engaged into the conversation. There are these thoughts and strange stomach feelings which start building up when I start approaching them to talk.

Now I am at home, just got back from a New Years party, sad, depressed and ashamed of myself. I cannot express in words how bad I am feeling now after having seen all those beautiful women in the party but could still not do anything...

I realise this is affecting my life because I feel lonely and this is not a problem I can talk to anyone to feel better, what's even worse is my close ones do not even try to understand what my problem is.

I can change to become or at least pretend that I am an Alpha Man but the moment I see an attractive woman this all disappears and I come back to being a beta.

I am writing this e-mail to you probably because no one understands this awful problem of mine better than you.

CARLOS XUMA ANSWERS ABOUT APPROACH ANXIETY:

Well, first of all, let me tell you that the experience you are having is a common one for many guys.

When I say "many," I really mean MOST every single guy out there.

So when you try to explain to other guys what you're experiencing, many of them simply DENY that it is even happening. It's crazy, but most guys don't want other guys knowing that they feel fear approaching and talking to women.

It seems un-manly. And it can really be completely humiliating.

I know - I had a TOUGH time admitting it when I had this problem. (Yes, I have had this experience hundreds of times in the past.)

It's funny, but most guys have this epiphany over the New Years holiday that they are not getting the success they feel they should with women.

It's emphasized by the fact that they don't have a date for the party they went to, and then it's really punched into their gut when they don't come home with a number from any of the women they met.

When midnight comes on New Years and everyone else is hugging and kissing their sweetheart, you feel like the loneliest guy on the planet for being ... well, the only one without a girl.

I hated that feeling, and it really pissed me off that I could be in a room full of pretty women and not be able to talk to ANY of them.

I'd stand with my drink in my hand and PRAY that one of them would come over and talk to me, but that never happened. Some other guy would always approach her while I was trying to think up some clever opening line.

"Let me tell you what Approach Anxiety really is..."

Approach anxiety is that sensation you have when you're about to approach a woman, but there's this little voice in your head that stops you dead in your tracks and keeps you from walking over to her.

It's just like the feeling you had when you were a kid and you knew you were in trouble and had to go to the principle's office, or go home to your angry parents.

(Isn't it weird how your senses are all on alert when you're in an approach situation? It's almost like being in a different dimension...)

This feeling is simply known as DREAD.

You're almost completely paralyzed by your own brain, but the worst part is that you don't even really THINK anything when you're trying to just say something - anything - to her.

(I'm getting freaked out as I type this, because I'm remembering the sensation - and just how much it really SUCKS.)

Approach anxiety is something I call a "Compound Emotion." This is an emotion that is so complex and complicated that you can't figure out where it's coming from or how to deal with it.

They get all mixed up in your head, and you have no idea how to overcome it to do what your mind wants to do, but some other part of you is short-circuiting.

In fact it's so complex that I can't possibly overcome this for you in a simple newsletter, but I can give you some tips...

First, start to really monitor that feeling in your body when you get ready to approach a woman. I'll bet that you feel the same things every time, and if you can start to recognize the sensation in your body first, you'll have your first alarm that you can sense when it's about to go off.

If you can sense the feeling before it comes on, you can stop it before it paralyzes you. Just like taking some Vitamin C tablets or echinacea extract to prevent a cold that you feel coming on.

"Everything begins with AWARENESS..."

Next, start to plan how you'll get started in interactions with women. You're probably blowing yourself out because you're trying to run before you can even walk.

Your goal is just to talk with her at first, for just a minute or two. Keep it LOW anxiety.

You need a couple good openers to get you started.

One that I use quite a bit is this:

"Hey... You know, you have a really nice energy about you. I just had to come over and let you know."

Now that is fantastic for getting a woman to open up, because you're giving value to HER instead of just "pickup" lines that don't do anything but scream out "pickup artist."

I personally use that one all the time, and it has never failed to start a conversation.

"That failure was the last straw for me..."

I was fed up, and I'd had ENOUGH.

If you're like me, you know that approach anxiety doesn't get better without learning some new skills and techniques to overcome my fears. It simply will NOT get better on its own...

In fact - it usually gets MUCH WORSE over time. It's a lot like social cancer to a man's life. That sounds brutal, but it's true.

I made a decision right then that lasted me a lifetime. I decided that - do or die - I was going to learn how to approach women, how to talk to women, and how to get her interested in me.

No matter WHAT it took.

I started watching other guys, trying out my own stuff, seeing what worked and what didn't, and I everything I learned down.

The key is to approach women with confidence. But how? Well I always find that if you feel attractive aroun women then you will get a natural boost in self esteem. This in turn will help you appear as a guy who has self belief which is highly attractive.

Mindset: This is where the likes of body language and voice tone are controlled from. It is regarded that over 90% of human communication is through the way we stand or fidget and how we say our words, note here it’s not what we’re saying that counts. So check your posture in the mirror or with a friend. The way to stand tall is to imagine that you are being held up by a piece of string through your head. By doing this you straighten your spine, your shoulders fall back, chest moves out and you can breathe better becuase the lungs now have room to move. If your voice is high pitched do something about it. Women like men to have a deeper voice. Record your voice and play it back and listen to how you sound. If necessary see a voice coach.
Physical: You may or may not regard yourself as good looking. Whether you are or not is irrelevant, but what is relevant is how you look. There is no need to look like you haven’t washed in weeks. Men don’t like to see women like that so why should women be any different? Clean your teeth regularly, floss, dress nicely and wear clothes that go together. If in doubt ask the stores clerk on what she thinks looks good on you - make sure it’s a female clerk. If money is an issue use the likes of Ebay. Get a cool hair cut [ask a female hairdresser] or if your hair is receding then keep it short and neat. Besides these days the no hair look is in anyway. If you’re overweight and you don’t like it or it hampers your confidence then do something about it. Being fitter means that you will look better and more importantly feel better. If you feel better you will act more confident because your self esteem will be higher. And what you thought was once out of your reach is not anymore. In truth nothing and no-one is out of your reach, but right from an early age we are conditioned to believe in limitations rather than possibilities. Break free of the shackles that have held you back. You are alive and that alone means that you’re a winner. Now go after what you want.
